Heels Elevated Goblet Squat
The keys to this activity are:
1. Maintain stacked position throughout
2. Keep weight in the heels and keep base of big toe in contact with the ground
3. Use an appropriate breathing strategy
Some reasons to include this activity:
1. Encourage posterior expansion. By elevating the heels, the foot and rest of the body is positioned towards an early position of gait which is associated with increased expansion on the back of the body.
2. Improved hip range of motion. By elevating the heels, it is easier to access external rotation because of the posterior expansion bias.
3. Influence the behavior/position of the pelvic diaphragm. Because of the posterior weight shift, the posterior pelvic diaphragm will be biased towards a descended position (posteriorly).
