Members of Canada's Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) are being urged to reject a new tentative collective agreement reached by their union and the federal government and demand new negotiations. This video provides an overview of the agreement and why members should vote against it and seek a better deal.
In this video we'll discuss:
1. Overview of the Tentative Agreement
2. Reasons to Reject the Tentative Agreement
3. Call to Action for PSAC Members
The tentative agreement includes increases to the economy progression grid, better health benefits, essential service protections, and a retroactive pay increase of 1.25%, with an additional 1.25% coming in 2022-23. On the surface, these increases may seem positive - but when put into context with the current cost of living, the difference these raises make are negligible.
The cost of living in Canada has continued to rise and yet, our wages have remained stagnant. This means that more and more PSAC members are unable to afford the cost of day to day necessities. This tentative agreement does not provide the wage increases needed to keep up with the rising cost of living.
We are urging all PSAC members to take a stand and reject this tentative agreement. Rejecting this agreement puts the onus back on the government to negotiate a better deal. A deal with real wage increases that will help members keep up with the ever-increasing cost of living.
Take action and use your voice: vote NO and demand a better deal.
