In this video I clarify what is actually in Thailand regarding their 2024 tax changes as there's been a lot of fear-mongering and misinformation around the topic by people who seemingly have no experience in thailand or connections in thailand to get a real scoop on what is happening with these changes.
I share what I've learned talking to some thai elite agents and connected thais I know, as well as explain why these changes are happening and who they're targeting.
In short though, these changes are intended to target expats and foreigners, to squeeze money out of them, but instead they're intended to close some tax loopholes that existed in Thailand that some very wealthy Thais were using. I explain this in the video, including the tax loophole that they're closing.
Due to the intended target not being foreigners this really changes nothing for most foreigners living in thailand. If it is implemented properly that is - and if poorly implemented it'll change nothing so long as you don't remit money into Thailand from abroad into a Thai bank account - something most people do very little of to none of.
Otherwise there are no sweeping tax changes occurring, and for the most part you can simply ignore these changes.
The party isn't over in Thailand - these changes don't make worldwide income taxable or anything like that. You can still live in Thailand and shelter the majority if not all your income so long as you don't have a work permit or business operating in Thailand.
