3-02-1993. Dougie's 1st interview as a pro, shortly after LA traded for him. He hadn't yet played in a game. First time he touched the ball in a game, he shot it right in front of Manute Bol who easily blocked it. Took him a long to tone down the wild rookie play. He's one of few players I can think of who took 5 or so years before coming into his own as a starter. He was also one of the four 1st rounders in 1992 (Zo - Hornets, Jim Jackson - Mavs, Christie - Sonics, Jon Barry - Celtics) who held out for large rookie contracts. Barry and Christie were traded because of this and were booed on every possession for a couple of years at Boston and Seattle. Jackson missed the first 54 gms for Dallas before they agreed to terms. Those cases and Glenn Robinson getting 68 mill in 1994 lead to the introduction of the rookie contract scale.
