On Thursday, October 10, 2019, we welcomed Larissa Bailiff back.
French painter Édouard Manet (1832-1883) was not immune to the mania for all things Spanish–in fashion, art, and culture–that consumed Paris during the mid-19th century. Together we will examine and discuss how “Espagnolisme”–and the spirit of such artists as Diego Velazquez and Francisco Goya–not only infused the styles and subjects of many of Manet’s most iconic paintings, but allowed the artist to become the premier modernist of his era. Olé!
