Parents have been told to collect their children from a Dundas school in Sydney’s west after two Year 10 students tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the state’s total number of confirmed cases to 42.
Education Minister Dan Tehan said on Monday the department was prepared for more cases after St Patrick's College, Dundas became the second school exposed to the coronavirus.
A student in year seven at Willoughby Girls High School - on Sydney's lower north shore - has also been confirmed to have contracted the disease.
Both schools are likely to be closed on Tuesday and NSW Health is interviewing the affected students and their families to determine how they became ill.
Another two cases were confirmed in NSW overnight, including a 40-year-old man and 70-year-old man who tested positive at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital.
At least 83 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Australia with three people having died from the disease in the country so far.
