AIMS scientists and Traditional Owners come together to discuss the challenges and opportunities in establishing Indigenous marine research partnerships on sea country.
We explore how an approach grounded in truth telling and two-way learning delivers mutual benefits for Traditional Owners and communities, and an enhanced scientific understanding of norther Australia's unique marine environment.
The panel is hosted by Duane Fraser, member of the GBRMPA Board and a Wulgurukaba and Bidjara Traditional Owner and includes cultural and natural resource management expert and Kuku Yalanji elder Chrissy Grant, AIMS CEO Dr Paul Hardisty, Team Leader of AIMS Indigenous Partnerships Libby Evans Illidge, AIMS Indigenous Partnerships Coordinator and Lama Lama and Nywaigi Traditional Owner Manuwuri Forester, AIMS Indigenous Partnerships Coordinator and Woppaburra elder Bob Muir, and AIMS scientist Dr Jim Underwood.
