Tritype® refers to a 27-point typing system that is an advanced and more specific application of the Enneagram that was created and coined by Enneagram teacher, researcher, and coach, Katherine Chernick Fauvre. Tritype®, originally named 3Types, TriCenter, and Trigram, is based on Katherine’s theory that while individuals primarily use one Enneagram Type as their ‘core type,’ everyone actually employs three central Enneagram Types; the dominant Enneagram Type within each center of intelligence: the head (5,6,7), heart (2,3,4) and gut (8,9,1).

These three types are used in a specific oscillating, repeating, and hierarchal stacking order. The type at the top of the stacking order is the 'core' Enneagram Type. In addition to using one dominant Enneagram type within the Tritype®, the three types within each Tritype® combine to create a “new” type unto itself which is one’s Tritype® Archetype.

Katherine Chernick Fauvre, the creator of Tritype® and Instinctual Stackings, is an internationally recognized personality expert. She is an IEA Accredited Teacher with Distinction and is Triple Certified: Palmer-Daniels, Riso-Hudson, and Hurley-Dobson. She is also distinguished to be the only person in the world to have attended week-long intensives with both Claudio Naranjo and Oscar Ichazo. In 1996, Naranjo validated her 1995 Research and her book on the Instinctual Subtypes. Her 23 qualitative research studies on the Enneagram Types and her innovative courses correlating the Enneagram with other fields such as Karen, Horney, MBTI, Archetypes, micro-expressions, talk styles, lexicon use, gestures, and body language have made her a thought leader in the field.

Spencer Ross Chernick, LMFT, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, is a certified Enneagram Teacher and Coach with Katherine Fauvre Consulting. He co-teaches an ongoing video series on the Enneagram Tritypes® and Instinctual Subtypes in Relationships. In addition to the Enneagram, he works with micro-expressions, talk styles, lexicon use, gestures, and body language. Spencer specializes in Couples Work and has completed Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 2 Training. He also works with children, teens, self esteem, grief and ADHD. In 2016, he researched the correlation between the Enneagram Types and their TKI Conflict Styles for his thesis. He is currently co-writing Enneagram Tritype® Relationships with Katherine Fauvre.
