At this apartment complex in Torrance, California -- a military family was getting the news no military family ever wants to get -- their son, 20-year old private first class Joseph Anzack had been killed in action.

Anzack was one of three soldiers that had been missing since their unit came under attack May 12th -- south of Baghdad.
Five others -- including an Iraqi translator were killed in the ambush.

On Wednesday -- Iraqi police found Anzack's body floating in the Euphrates river.

There were reports that a second body had been found as well, but on Thursday the military denied that a second body was recovered.

At Anzack's family home -- visitors arrived throughout the day Wednesday to console Anzack's family.
His aunt says the family is in shock.

Despite the discovery -- thousands of U.S. And Iraqi soldiers are still conducting a massive search for their missing comrades.
Days upon days now -- they've been combing fields, searching homes until exhaustion -- holding out some hope -- perhaps at least one of them will be found alive ...
