This tutorial shows you the step by step of configuration to add your gmail to outlook (in this video I use outlook 2013, however, we do the same in outlook 2010, 2016). This is the optimal procedure to make sure you can successfully add your email to outlook and now you can read, write email via outlook.
The tutorial guides for both cases (first launch outlook or adding more accounts). I also noted in the video by the caption. If this is the first launch, you click next until you see the dialogue box requiring you your name, email address. In the case you had already used outlook before and wanted to add one more account, go to file, add account) and the same dialogue box will appear.
If you follow this procedure, you never get the error: logon to incoming mail server: the connection to mail server was interrupted, if this problem continue, contact your server administrator or internet service provider (IPS). Send test email message: Your email server rejected your login.
