A quick comparison of the SW7600GR and FT-891 using the very same antenna at 23:55 UTC on 4980 khz in Mpls, MN. The signal is faint and was fading from Xinjiang People's Broadcasting Station (XPBS). (Sorry about the handheld shake in the video - YouTube removed the stabilization feature.)

The Sony reception in most HF bands is just as sensitive as the Yaesu which suggests that a proper antenna is more important than the money spent on a higher-end receiver. Of course, an expensive receiver will have more options - but the antenna is the critical component. The T-junction is connected to the 65' MyAntennas.com EFHW-4010 endfed antenna that is positioned sloping N to S up to about 45 feet off the ground. This was a first illustrative simple demonstration - more to come on this.
