Fury vs Wilder has proven to be one of the best Heavyweight trilogies in the history of the sport. Leading in to this fight, Wilder was undefeated with a record of 40-0 with 39 KO’s and considered as one of the sports best punchers ever. Fury was on the comeback trail with victories over unheralded Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta and had an undefeated record of 27-0 with 19 KOs. Most experts gave Fury very little chance against Wilder after having spent over 2.5 years out of the ring.
After defeating Wladimir Klitschko in November of 2015, Fury became the Lineal Heavyweight Champion of the World. His career success and fame lead him down a path of substance abuse and depression that culminated with a suicide attempt.
“I didn’t care what no-one was thinking, I didn’t care about hurting my family, friends, anybody. I didn’t care about nothing, I just wanted to die so bad, I gave up on life.”
Ultimately, Fury turned towards his faith in God and sought psychiatric help. With his renewed faith and will to live, Fury embarked on a path of Heavyweight greatness.
