The pandemic has exacerbated the menstruation-related challenges women and girls face around the world and we need to tackle these challenges with urgency. At the same time, we also have to look ahead so we don’t lose sight of our joint long-term goal: a world where no woman or girl is held back because she menstruates by 2030. In order to achieve that goal, waiting for the COVID-19 pandemic to end is simply not an option. We need to step up investment in Menstrual Health and Hygiene. We need a multi-sectoral approach, leveraging collaboration among sectors including Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), education, health, gender, solid waste management, and the private sector.
