The Hastings College Choir, under the direction of Dr. Fritz Mountford, traces the evolution of a Reformation French sacred song from its exuberant monophonic first incarnation, through Claude Goudimel's mid-16th-century three-voice Metrical Psalm, to Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck's 1621 four-voice polyphonic setting.
Psalm 149, verses 1 & 2: "Sing unto the Lord a new song, and His praises in the congregation of saints. Let Israel rejoice in Him that made him; Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King."
