James Parker has been running a food drive for seven years, but the #COVID19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges in how to get food to those in need. After a number of outside distribution sites fell through, Parker reached out to County Executive Matt Meyer and general manager of New Castle County's Community Services department, Marcus Henry, and with a little work, was able to relocate to the Route 9 Library & Innovation Center. Now, each week, hundreds of community residents can get the food they need safely.
As our community grapples with a new normal brought on by the novel #coronavirus, we'll be recognizing individuals in our community working to make a difference with our Community Heroes series.
