Enjoy the ride behind a Sabarmati based YDM4 MG Locomotive, which would eventually become history after Ahmedabad - Botad, Himmatnagar - Udaipur, and Gir forest MG section is closed. the section will resume after it is converted to Broad gauge line, giving more facilities, also called Indian gauge and is the broadest gauge in operation in the world.
1,000 mm (3 ft 3 3⁄8 in) meter gauge lines were introduced to reduce the cost. Also, simpler engineering permitted sharp turns in hilly regions. All the meter gauge lines except the heritage Nilgiri Mountain Railway are being converted to broad gauge as part of Project Uni-gauge.
