In this short video, Dr. Joseph Castellano of Castellano Cosmetic Surgery, a state-of-the-art facility that offers breast augmentation in Tampa, explains the differences in implant options.
Silicone vs saline vs gummy bear vs smooth or textured breast implants. With so many choices it’s easy to get confused with the various breast implant options for breast augmentation. Choosing the right breast implants - a combination of size, profile and type of implant- is essential for ensuring the best breast augmentation results.
Implant size is one of the most important decisions you will make when it comes to choosing the best breast implant type. While deciding on the perfect size is an importan, there are also decisions to me made with regards to the shape, texture and profile of your implant along with deciding between silicone versus saline implants. An experienced cosmetic surgeon is best suited to guide you during this process. Learn more: [ Ссылка ]
Here are the three main decisions to be made about breast implant options:
1. Implant Size
Did you know that breast implant sizes are not measured in cups? Rather, silicone and saline implants are measured by volume in cubic centimeters, or cc’s. Since most women are more familiar with cup sizes than cc’s, an experienced cosmetic surgeon can help you decide how many cc’s can give your breasts the size you desire. Since natural can be an objective term, bring photos of breasts you like to your breast augmentation consultation. This will help your cosmetic surgeon best understand your desired outcome. Make sure you have ample time scheduled with your surgeon to make this decision. Dr. Castellano spends a significant portion of the consultation on implant size during consultations with patients for breast augmentation in Tampa, FL.
2. Breast Implant Types
Silicone breast implants are filled with silicone gel that has a jelly-like consistency. If the outer shell ever becomes compromised or breached, these implants will not “deflate” due to the thickness and cohesiveness of the gel. Silicone breast implants have a natural, breast-like feeling and are most commonly used by cosmetic surgeons on patients who desire a natural, customized outcome.
Saline breast implants are made with a silicone outer shell and are filled with sterile, saltwater solution. If the outer shell ever becomes compromised or breach, deflation can occur quickly. The saline is harmlessly absorbed by the body. Saline implants have a firmer feel compared to silicone gel implants and will give breasts a more rounded, augmented appearance after your breast augmentation procedure.
3. Implant Profiles & Shapes
Breast implants come in a varying array of profiles and shapes. Profile measures the distance the implant projects from the chest wall. A high profile breast implant is taller and narrower, while a low profile implant has a wider base. The exterior shell of the implants can be textured or smooth, and implants may be round or “gummy bear” shaped.
Of all the decisions to be made during your breast augmentation journey, the most important is to find an experienced cosmetic surgeon with whom you are comfortable.
