This being a Sprint race weekend, qualifying for Sunday's Belgian GP was held today, Friday - in wet-and-then-damp conditions. In this video Peter Windsor details the substance of Max Verstappen's superb pole-winning lap for Red Bull - his prodigious pace through Spa's famous Sector Two, where the demanding downhill section is capped by the ultra-fast Pouhon corner. McLaren's rookie, Oscar Piastri, was second fastest in this sector - and both of them were clear of the rest (albeit, as Peter explains, with relatively low maximum speeds). With Max incurring a five-place grid penalty (due to a fifth gearbox change) for Sunday's race, the pole in reality went to Ferrari's Charles Leclerc from Verstappen's team-mate, Sergio Perez, and Mercedes' hard-charging Lewis Hamilton.
