The Me 262 HG Series is one of the most intriguing lines of research ever done with the Me 262. The HG series, or Hochgeschwindigkeit (meaning high speed), was a series of progressively more radical developments on the Me 262 that were aimed to make it faster and more maneuverable, going from the HG I to the HG II, and ending on the extremely advanced HG III, of which would have been nearly as fast as the top Korean War era fighters, such as the F-86 Sabre or MiG-15. This series of planes was an attempt to get everything out of the Me 262 possible, before needing to switch to an entirely new and more modern design. Though the HG I was both built and flown, with the HG II likely to have been built, but never flown, this series of planes is a relative success considering when they were produced and under the conditions which they flew. Sadly, none of these prototypes survive to this day, although we have a fair amount of knowledge on the work done with these planes, which I present to you in this video. This is the History of the Me 262 HG Series - The Fastest Me 262s Ever Produced.
