In this quick and easy video guitar lesson, I am going to show you how to play the chords found in "A Horse With No Name" by America.
On the original recording we have guitars tuned to an altered tuning (D E D G B D, low to high) and a 12 string guitar tuned to standard. The chords that are played on the 12 string are what we will cover in this lesson so you can play everything in standard tuning while retaining the sound of the original recording.
There are only 3 chords that are repeated throughout the entire song. The chords are very simple but quite unorthodox as well. I think this make this A Horse With No Name guitar lesson great for the beginner level guitarist.
I spend some time in the video lesson also covering picking hand strumming technique for the beginner level player. I am a big believer in feeling the rhythm and setting your picking hand in the correct motion to play any strumming pattern you want without doing a bunch of counting. I think it is much more important to learn how to feel the strumming pattern than count it.
In addition, the accents that are played while strumming will become second nature to you very quickly using this natural method of learning rhythm.
Have fun guys! Carl...
