In this video, I discuss the biological basis of opiate addiction and review methods used to recover from it. In particular, I review two papers that elucidate the neurological activity of iboga's alkaloids. I conclude that the upregulation of neurotrophic factors is the key to ibogaine's efficacy, and I discuss alternative methods to achieving the same aim.
