Contactile’s PapillArray tactile sensors are an array of soft silicone domes.
Each dome can measure 3D force, 3D deflection and 3D vibration. The array of domes can measure emergent properties of 3D global force and 3D global torque, as well as detect partial slip and estimate friction.
The ability to sense all of these properties is what makes human touch so powerful and enables human dexterity.
