Myxoid cysts are common and usually indicative of underlying trauma or inflammation of the joints of the fingers and toes. Arthritis is common in the joints. They can be very stubborn and commonly recur 2-5 times. First I usually drain them with an 11 blade and apply a pressure bandage. Second I will drain the cyst and then do a shave removal with deep cautery to the sinus tract. If they recur a third time I will send them to a hand surgeon that will usually open up the joint and remove any bone spurs or joint issues and that usually stops recurrence. Most of the time the shave removal gets the job done. MrPopZit
