Here I present my interpretation on Nucken in the sword & buckler manuscript I.33 (also known as the Walpurgis or Tower manuscript). To cut a long story short I think that it's a beat, much like in modern olympic fencing. I've found this the easiest and most reliable interpretation of the technique that fits the text and images.
This video is part of my reply to Roland Warzecha / Dimicator at the Belgian Buckler Symposium.
HEMA (historical european martial arts) or historical fencing has the aim to reconstruct forgotten fighting techniques, learn how they (mostly knights) really fought back then in medieval and renaissance times. Feel free to discuss it with me in the comments section :)
