Following an All-reset the DR (D-STAR Repeater) and CS (Call Sign) buttons have only limited functionality:
- Tap DR
- Display indicates "NO RPT"
The transceiver has not yet been programmed to access a D-STAR repeater.
- Tap DR to exit
- Long-press DR
- Display indicates "DV" and "CQCQCQ"
"DV" indicates that the radio is now in digital voice mode. "CQCQCQ" is a call sign used in digital communications to contact anyone listening. Here's how to exit DV mode:
- Tap DR to exit "CQCQCQ"
- Long-press DIAL, dial to "FM"
- Tap DIAL to switch to "FM" mode
- Display now indicates "FM", Frequency Modulation mode
CS - D-STAR Call Signs
- Long-press DR to switch back to D-STAR Repeater mode
- Tap DR to exit D-STAR repeater select mode
- Display still indicates digital voice mode, "DV"
- Tap CS
- Display shows currently selected call sign "UR CQCQCQ"
- Rotate DIAL to view four different D-STAR call sign selection screens:
- "UR" - Destination's call sign
- "R1" - Call sign into the D-STAR repeater
- "R2" - Call sign outgoing from the D-STAR repeater
- "MY" - Originator's call sign

Four terms are used to describe D-STAR repeaters:
- "Area": Operating area surrounding one specific repeater
- "Zone": Group of repeaters linked by a 10-GHz backbone
- "Link Repeater": A 10-GHz repeater linked to another repeater
- "Gateway Repeater": An internet-connected repeater

Register Your Call Sign
1. Search the internet for a local D-STAR repeater station with gateway access to the internet
2. Create an account on that gateway repeater's website
3. Receive email confirmation for your account

D-STAR Call Signs
- Originator = "MY": the call sign assigned to me by the FCC
- Repeater1 = "RPT1": the call sign and frequency port going **into** the repeater
- Repeater2 = "RPT2": the call sign and port going **out of** the repeater
- Destination = "UR": Call sign of the station or operator I am contacting
D-STAR Ports
- Port A: 23-centimeter band
- Port B: 70-centimeter band
- Port C: 2-meter band
- Port D: 23-centimeter band data only
- Port G: Internet gateway
Programming "MY" Call Sign
For me, "MY" call sign is "KJ7PPX". Here's how to enter "MY" call sign:
- Tap CS to exit D-STAR call sign mode
- Tap MENU, rotate DIAL to "CALL-S", tap MONI
- Rotate DIAL to "MY", tap MONI
- Display indicates blinking "MY 1"
- Rotate DIAL to select an available channel number
- Tap LOW to enter first character of MY call sign
- Rotate DIAL to select that first character
- Repeat for each of the following characters
When "MY" call sign has been entered, tap MONI to save. Tap MENU to exit programming mode.
Here's how to verify "MY" call sign:
- Long-press DR to display "UR CQCQCQ"
- Tap DR to exit "UR CQCQCQ"
- Display indicates "DV", digital voice mode
- In DV mode, tap CS
- Display indicates current "UR" call sign: "CQCQCQ"
- Dial to "MY", display indicates current "MY" call sign: "KJ7PPX"
- Tap CS to exit current call sign display
Here's how to exit DV mode:
- Long-press DIAL, dial to "FM"
- Tap DIAL to confirm and exit
- Display indicates "FM" mode
