This video is not meant as a dig at people who stop and stare when I do a handstand in the street! A) I definitely push the boundaries of what's useful or normal a little... But B) it's also completely understandable. I don't expect everyone to want to balance along a wall, and I don't think there's anything wrong with looking at something you don't see every day!
My point with this video is, rather, to simply illustrate how *strange* movement seems to have become. Why IS it so weird to see a grown man or woman balancing on a wall? It's fun and it's good for you!
When I work in coffee shops for long stints, I feel myself stiffening up. I've had back issues from precisely this and my chiropractor recommended I get up and start doing some marching As or deep lunges. People look at you like you're bonkers!
If I chose to lunge around Tesco instead of walk, would I get thrown out? I mean it's possible! But it would just be a way to get some exercise while shopping. So, why is it so strange?
And why do we have a few "accepted" forms of exercise? Like jogging around a park? Crawling has a myriad benefits but you *never* see someone crawling outside.
So, what can we do? The answer is easy! Move more and in more ways. The more people do it, the more normal it becomes. Normalise movement!
