Independent candidate for the federal seat of Hughes, Georgia Steele, says she has received donations from Climate 200 equating to tens of thousands of dollars in campaign funds.
In an interview with Sky News Australia, Ms Steele said the donations she has received from Climate 200 were a "very small part" of the funds she's managed to raise so far.
"I have fundraised from my community in significant amounts - we're really happy with how the fundraising's going for our campaign,” she said.
"I have received donations from Climate 200 - they're a very small part of the funds that I have managed to raise so far.
"They're around 15 per cent at the moment ... I have raised around $320,000 for my campaign and around 15 per cent of that has been a donation from Climate 200."
Ms Steele also called for greater action on climate change and accused the government of "throwing taxpayer dollars at dying industries".
"I think that we need an emission reductions target that is more ambitious than what the government has currently stated," Ms Steele said.
"The government needs to be more future-focused."
