Hi Everyone, In this video I'm using the pattern primer from @easycompositestv as an in-mould primer.
The pattern primer is designed as the name says to finish a pattern with a nice flat finish before making moulds. When I contacted @easycompositestv to know if it has been used as an in-mould coating, they told me it hasn't been done or tested so far so decided to take the test.
The normal process would be to make the parts with fiberglass and polyester resin directly in the mould, demould, then spray on the pattern primer to fill any pinholes left and sand flat. The advantage here is that the pattern primer is used in 1 step with the polyester resin in the mould. That's why I call it an in-mould coating. The big advantage is that it can be demoulded, quickly sanded and directly send to the spraypainter with a good primed surface finish.
If you want to make moulds, make sure to use a gelcoat designed for moulds as this is not the purpose of the pattern primer.
