Sky News host Rowan Dean has expressed hope that New Zealand will have more of a “spine” with newly elected Prime Minister Chris Luxon.
Mr Luxon defeated Chris Hipkins' Labour on Saturday night, overseeing a landslide win for his centre-right National Party.
The National's leader is likely to partner with the libertarian ACT Party to form government.
Mr Dean said New Zealand’s former prime minister Jacinda Ardern “scurried off for cover” when she realised Labour would lose the election.
“Let’s see if they can overturn a bit of the madness of the Ardern years,” Mr Dean said.
