The Timber Trail is a 85km journey through the Pureroa Forest in the Central North Island of New Zealand. This 2 day MTB ride is remote and traverses a number of interesting features including some of the longest swing bridges in NZ and various historic logging relics. There is over 1400m of ascent and 1765m of descent if riding from Pureroa to Ongarue. We stayed at the well appointed and efficiently run Timber Trail Lodge which is right on the track in a beautiful clearing around the half way mark. Those long downhills are super fun, especially on day 2.
