Former Nationals Leader Barnaby Joyce has told Sky News he is not “touting for leadership” amid his claims the Coalition marriage has left the National Party in an unfair position across a number of areas.
It comes as Mr Joyce has criticised his Party’s alliance with the Liberals, describing it as a “marriage of convenience” which threatens the re-election of the Morrison led Coalition.
“I’m not touting for leadership, don’t want it,” Mr Joyce told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“But what I am is the longest-serving minister of the National Party and a former leader.
“Therefore I think I have a role to say things that others can’t.”
Mr Joyce reasserted he has had his “crack” at leadership and will not stand again.
“But I want this fixed … I’m going to make sure I still stand up for my party.”
