This video is about how to translate the English word 'not' into German. Its main focus is explaining the difference between the two very common German translations, 'nicht' and 'kein', including when they are used, whether they can change form, where they go in a sentence and how to decide which you should use. Once I have explained why I think English speakers find these differences so hard, I give a simple explanation, followed by a more complex explanation, followed by some word order conventions, followed by a number of working examples.
