Saquon Barkley was raised in Bronx, New York. At Whitehall High School, he excelled in football, basketball, and track but ultimately committed to football. Initially committing to Rutgers University, he switched to Penn State, where he would set school records and become one of the best running backs in the history of college football.
Declaring for the 2018 NFL Draft, Barkley was picked second overall by the New York Giants. He made an immediate impact, earning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors with over 1,300 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. But, injuries in 2019 and 2020, including a torn ACL, set him back.
Now with a struggling Giants fan base, Barkley returned to in 2022, rushing for 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning his second Pro Bowl selection. Despite his comeback, the Giants’ lack of success, led him to sign a three-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024. In his Eagles debut, Barkley rushed for 109 y ards and scored three touchdowns, earning NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
