A missing Indonesian submarine with 53 crew onboard has sunk 850 metres below the surface, well beyond its survivable limits.
The navy vessel is designed to withstand a depth of up to 500 metres.
Rescuers have recovered debris including a grease bottle, parts of a torpedo straightener, and prayer rugs.
Earlier, authorities said oxygen supplies would have run out early this morning.
The submarine disappeared during exercises off the coast of Bali, sparking a frantic operation to locate it.
Australia, India, Malaysia, and Singapore assisted in the search.
The military is preparing to salvage whatever is left of the vessel in the hope of at least retrieving the crews' remains.
