Fullerton Police Accident Investigators have released surveillance footage of a fatal hit and run traffic collision and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect vehicle and its driver.

On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at approximately 10:24 PM, Fullerton Police Officers responded to the 2100 block of E. Orangethorpe Avenue, near State College Boulevard, regarding a traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, Officers located an unresponsive male, 33 years of age, in the street with serious injuries. Bystanders and Officers began life-saving measures, and the male was transported to a local trauma center. Unfortunately, the male succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital. The Orange County Coroner’s Office identified the decedent as Thomas Carrillo from Fullerton.

Preliminary investigation revealed Mr. Carrillo was in the westbound lanes of the 2100 block of E Orangethorpe Avenue, possibly on a skateboard. The suspect vehicle was traveling westbound on Orangethorpe Avenue and collided into Mr. Carrillo. The suspect vehicle did not stop and continued westbound on Orangethorpe Avenue.

Fullerton PD Accident Investigators recovered surveillance footage partially capturing the traffic collision as well as the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene southbound on Acacia Avenue. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark four-door sedan and is expected to have front-end damage from the collision.
