Five thousand members of the Italian mafia have been operating “industrial-scale” money laundering and drug trafficking in Australia, says Sky News host Peta Credlin.
The Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s Dr John Coyne told Ms Credlin Australia’s law enforcement agencies will be targeting the mafia players at the top for prosecution.
“He says they'll also move to financially neutralise syndicate members targeting their expensive cars, houses, shares and even jewellery - seizing items via powerful laws around the proceeds of crime,” Ms Credlin said.
