NORTH COLLEGE HILL, Ohio (WKRC) - Shots were fired in North College Hill and schools in the area were locked down as police searched for suspects.
Those shots were fired in the area of Dallas Ave. and Savannah Ave. at about 10 a.m.
Two officers were checking out a vacant house. North College Hill Police Chief Ryan Schrand believes there may have been a phone call from a neighbor about a possible break-in.
As they went into the house, they heard gunfire. They backed out of the house and went around to surround it. An officer saw the suspect trying to break out of the house through a garage. Schrand said he pointed the gun at the officer and fired a shot at her.
She took cover. He ran off through an alley.
Police did find a gun nearby thanks to a police dog.
Two people were taken into custody for questioning.
Officers from Springfield Township, Green Township, Colerain Township, Mt. Healthy and deputies from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office all assisted with the search.
The school lockdowns were lifted shortly before noon.
