Dane Reynolds recently dropped by the factory and spotted a stock Neck Beard 2 Spine-Tek in the rack with some boards heading to our Santa Barbara Surf Shop that afternoon. He grabbed the 5’9, placed it comfortably under his arms, felt the rails, analyzed the weight, then eagerly asked if he could take it right then and there instead of waiting for the custom he'd ordered from Britt. You see, there was swell in the water and his favorite Neck Beard 2 had become a little worse for wear. That’s what happens when surf hard like Dane. So a fresh Neck Beard 2 was in order.
It was winter at home, and he’d been surfing a lot. There’d also been a lot of rain lately and the water was looking like doo-doo. But that doesn’t stop you when the waves are good.
We’re proud of what we’ve achieved with Spine-Tek reflex technology and how insane they are working, but truth be told Dane doesn’t care much for the way they look. Aesthetics can be addressed but performance can’t, and Dane digs how well they go on the NB2. So after a quick DIY spray job on the top and bottom he threw on his CI tail pad and, well, you can see for yourself how it worked out.
