When we went to Chatuchak weekend market, I didn't expect to come across this. After walking through the indoor mall potion of the market, we accidentally exited on the other side.
Upon exiting the mall we were confronted with the "pet" section of Chatuchak Weekend Market. The animals on that side of the market were in extremely poor condition. Puppies overcrowded, being handled without concern for their wellbeing.
Birds kept ten a cage, covered in plastic wrap being completely baked in the 100 degree heat. Giant tortoises cowering lifeless in the corner of their caged. Large reptiles stacked on top of one another, defecting onto the cages below. Cats, Rabbits, Chinchillas, and Sugar Gliders overheating, dead, and dying in the hot sun.
I have never seen such blatant disrespect for animal lives. The people breeding these pets are clearly just trying to make a quick buck off tourists visiting the market. They have no concern over their animals that are suffering in these conditions.
Mina, and I set out to have a nice day at Chatuchak Weekend Market, which was abruptly ended when we wandered into the pet section. I recommend people stay away from this market, as it supports the mistreatment of animals.
