Ultimaker 2 Extended + printer is a Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) machine where the printer works with extruding thermoplastic filaments, such as Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Polylactic Acid (PLA), rubber (TPU), nylon, through a heated nozzle, melting the material and applying the plastic layer by layer to a build platform. Each layer is laid down one at a time until the part is complete.
Ultimaker 2 Extended + printer is a high speed and accurate desktop printer with a build volume of 9” x 9” x 12”. This printer has the option of swapping the filament and choose the correct pressure for the selected filament. It also has four different sizes of swappable nozzles – 0.25 mm, 0.40 mm, 0.60 mm, 0.80 mm. Each of these nozzles gives their own layer resolutions: 0.25 mm nozzle gives 150 to 60 microns, 0.40 mm nozzle gives 200 to 20 microns, 0.60 mm nozzle gives 400 to 20 microns, and 0.80 mm nozzle gives 600 to 20 microns. The nozzles have the speed of 30 to 300 mm/s.
