Traveling with Medicare - Medicare Supplement Plan G Foreign Travel Benefit - Plan G Coverage outside US
Medicare will not cover you if you leave the country however, the Medicare Supplement Plan G will cover you if you leave the country. The Medicare Supplement Plan G comes with what is called a foreign travel benefit. It will cover foreign travel emergency care if it begins during the first 60 days of your trip, and if Medicare doesn't otherwise cover the care. They pay 80% of the billed charges for certain medically necessary emergency care outside the U.S. after you meet a $250 deductible for the year and has a lifetime limit of $50,000.
Medigap Plan G covers you when you are traveling. You will have the same coverage within the United States as you do where you live. The Medicare Supplement Plan G will even cover you when you are traveling outside of the US.
Can I travel with Medicare outside of the United States? Original Medicare A and B will not cover you while you are out of the Country. However, if you have a Medicare Supplement Plan G, you have the foreign travel benefit that I cover in this video.
Which Medicare Supplement Plans allow me to travel outside of the United States? The three most comprehensive Medicare Supplement Plans, Plan F, Plan G and Plan N all three have the traveling benefit included.
