Alongside MC Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, Imperial Sports, and any number more, Dunham's was a quintessential supplier of sporting goods throughout the midwest in 1990's. And unlike a number of the chains mentioned Dunham's continues going strong today (as of 2020). Founded in 1937 in West Bloomfield (MI) as Dunham's Bait & Tackle, Dunham's now has over 230 locations in 22 states (as of 2021).
Starter brand was founded in 1976 and reached peak popularity in the early 90's as a licensed manufacturer of apparel (most notably jackets) featuring the logos, colors, and designs of various sports teams. Starter saw their popularity steadily decline through the end of the 90's before Nike purchased the brand in 2004. In 2007, Iconix Brand Group purchased Starter from Nike, leading to a Starter-Walmart partnership in the late 2000's/early 2010's.
