The TREK CarBack Radar Tail Light launched in mid April 2024 with updated 77GHz radar technology they claim has a detection range of up to 240m, a full 100m more than other popular cycling radars on the market today. After purchasing a unit it only took a few minutes to discover the user experience wasn't exactly meeting expectations. What followed was some of the most extensive testing I've ever had to undertake to ensure something does what the manufacturer claims. So does it? Sometimes. It's complicated.
