Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Kakanmaṭh Temple is a classic example of great architecture. Located in the village of Sihoniya in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, this temple has been the centre of attraction for tourists. It has beautiful figures carved on its walls including various Gods and Goddesses. According to folklore, It is believed that this temple was constructed by ghosts overnight, and because ghosts had to leave before the sunrise, the construction of a temple could not be completed. Even today, it seems to be an unfinished structure. Kakanmaṭh Temple also reminds us of the temples of Khajuraho in terms of design.

मुरैना में सिहोनिया स्थित ककनमठ मंदिर आज देश-विदेश के पर्यटकों के लिए आकर्षण का केंद्र है। यह मंदिर भगवान शिव को समर्पित है। ककनमठ मंदिर स्थापत्य कला की एक उम्दा मिसाल है, जो आपको मंत्रमुग्ध कर देगी। मंदिर की दीवारों पर खूबसूरत नक्काशी है और उन पर देवी-देवताओं की मूर्तियां भी खूबसूरती से उकेरी गई हैं। इस मंदिर से जुड़ी एक दिलचस्प लोककथा भी है। कहते हैं इसे भूतों ने एक रात में बनाया था, लेकिन इसे बनाते-बनाते सुबह हो गई और भूतों को काम अधूरा छोड़कर जाना पड़ा। आज भी इस मंदिर को देखने पर यही लगता है कि इसका निर्माण अधूरा रह गया है। ककनमठ मंदिर की शैली हमें खजुराहो के मंदिरों की याद भी दिलाती है।
