Today in this 2014 Toyota Tacoma, we're going to install part number BAK26407. First thing we're going to do is go ahead and install our hardware for our rails. We're going to slide the square headed bolts into the tracks that are already installed into the bed of the pick up truck. In this truck, we're going to use three on each side. Now, we'll go ahead and attach our rail into the truck. We'll go ahead and slide it forward as far as possible.
We'll go ahead and line the bolts with the cuts that are already made into the rails. It seems that it works best to go ahead and do the outside bolts first, tighten them down and then we'll tighten down the center bolts. We'll make sure we have a flat, even surface all the way across the top. Just got to do a double check to make sure to push all the way up to the front of the bed. Once you're finished with that, we can go ahead and temporary put the Tonneau cover into place. We need to unfold it and remove some of the packing materials that come with it and some of the seals that come with it as well.
With the packaging and the extra parts removed, we'll go ahead and unfold the Tonneau cover. We'll go ahead and temporarily put it into place. Make sure the Tonneau cover fits into the grooves and that it snaps into place. Then we'll take a moment to go ahead and push the Tonneau cover all the way up. That way, we could see where the edge meets up to the front rail of the bed.
It's also good to check the operation of the tailgate as well. We'll go ahead and fold and take a look and see where we can put our bulb seal. After we find a location we can install it, we'll go ahead and clean it down with some rubbing alcohol. Then we'll take our bulb seal and put it across the bed of the truck. Go ahead and start one corner. Go as far as you can on one side and work your way over to the other.
Then we'll install the hardware that connects the Tonneau cover to the rails. We'll install two elevator bolts, one on each side. We'll go to the Tonneau cover then to the bracket on the Tonneau cover. Underneath the bracket, we'll get a rubber washer, the flat washer and a lock washer then the handle nut. We'll go ahead and install the hardware on both sides. Now, we'll just snug down our hardware for now. We'll go ahead and pull the Tonneau cover and check it one more time and make sure it's in the correct position. Now we'll go ahead and tighten down the knobs for good. Now, we don't want the crank these down super tight but just nice and firm. We'll take a note where it contacts the cab. In this case, it's going to be right on the bottom of the edge of the lens inaudible 05:40 light. This is the part where we need to install our extra bulb seal. We'll go ahead and pull it down and then we'll mark the center of our Tonneau cover. We'll take a piece of the bulb seal, we'll also mark the center of it then attach it to the Tonneau cover. It's a good idea to just go ahead and slightly put it into place and then just hold it up into the lens to make sure it's correct. Once we're sure, go ahead and push it in and we could put even pressure on the adhesive to make sure it sticks. Now, we'll go ahead and install the props to hold the back flip up. These rods simply snaps into place on the mounts and the other end goes to clip, it's already been installed into the rail. Now, we'll need to use it, we'll go ahead and pull out the rail and push it against the latches on the inside edge of the Tonneau cover. While loosening the knob up, slide the latch up, put the prop into place and slide the latch back down and tighten it. We have one on each side. It looks like everything is ready to go. We're completely finished for install. Let's go ahead and take it for a test drive. We'll try it with the Tonneau cover down and we'll see how the Tonneau cover moves when it's slipped off. With that, that will finish it for our install of part number BAK26407 on our 2014 Toyota Tacoma. .
