The wife of Julian Assange, Stella Assange, has addressed the media after her husband landed in Canberra.
Mr Assange touched down at Canberra's Fairbairn Air Base at 7:30pm where he reunited with his wife and two young children.
The WikiLeaks founder faced 17 counts of breaching the US Espionage Act of 1917 and one count of conspiracy to commit computer intrusion related to the publication of classified information pertaining to America's wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
"The fact is, the case is an attack on journalism, it's an attack on the public's right to know, and it should never have been bought," Ms Assange said.
"Julian should never have spent a single day in prison, but today we celebrate because today Julian is free."
