Lanell Bellows planned to show his dominance against Antowyan Aikens on Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays, Feb. 16, 2016 on PBC on FS1.
Round 1 set the tone for the rest of the fight between Bellows and Aikens. The two fighters used their jab, with different levels of success, to establish how they would press the right of their fights.
Aiken used his jab to find distance, to little avail, while Bellows was using his jab to set up his right hand. Aiken spent most of Round 2 exploring the ring and throwing few punches. Bellows pushed the pace, pressing the action by moving forward and using the jab to slow down his opponent.
The action was dictated by Bellows as the rounds continued. Bellows followed Round 2 with a strong finish in Round 3 just as the bell sounded.
By the 5th round, Bellows was able to found his distance with the jab and his right hand connected regularly. With one minute left in the round, Bellow’s right hand once again found its way to Aikens, sending him to the canvas for a 10 count, and giving Bellows the victory.
