High Exposure is among the most famous climbs on the East Coast. Its second pitch is the reason why. As soon as you commit to "the move" and come out from under the roof to gain the face, you are immediately hit with major exposure - straight down about 180 feet. Apprehension and tension build for climbers a bit intimidated or unsure of themselves because one clearly sees before "the move" what they're getting into. Once on the face, it's
a fantastic route skyward with grand views in all directions. I climbed this pitch several times as both leader and second. It's very addicting, and even climbers that can climb much harder routes enjoy High E over and over again. It's that good.
