"The Ghost" has a pair of managers who are deferring all boxing decisions to mystery man Al Haymon. Bobby Santos has been with the Gilroy southpaw from the beginning, but seems powerless moving into the future. Through 5 World Title Championships, Guerrero and Santos have been a team. Robert earned a $3million payday for his loss to Floyd Mayweather last May, but after several months in hibernation Guerrero's awakening was punctuated with a desire to bail from his contract with Golden Boy Promotions. At the time, Richard Schaefer was still CEO of Oscar De La Hoya's company. The former Swiss banker has been seen of late at Floyd Mayweather's gym in Las Vegas and it's no secret that Schaefer and Haymon have plans to "reorganize", with Oscar as the odd man out. Despite the bickering, Al Haymon was able to secure a $1million payday for Guerrero in his return fight against Yoshihiro Kamegai Saturday night...on a Golden Boy Promotion aired on Showtime. Santos and Co-manager Luis DeCubas Jr. were helpless to rectify the rift until Haymon stepped in and secured top billing for "The Ghost" at StubHub center. The Japanese fighter and Guerrero went to war for an action packed 12 rounds in a bloody war won by Haymon's fighter. While Haymon continues to sign fighters at an alarming rate promising returns beyond what their current agreements call for...by all accounts he has delivered. De La Hoya and Kathy Duva at Main Events have both been snookered by the "Ghostlike" power broker who refuses to be a public figure and talk to the press. His work is done in private with Sam Watson and his sons serving as front men. Haymon's stable of fighters is nearing 100, so the boxing landscape is changing dramatically. De La Hoya is finding comfort in his new found sobriety and renewed friendship with rival promoter Bob Arum at Top Rank. Since Schaefer and Arum continually spew vile comments at each other, battle lines are being drawn. Meanwhile, "money" Mayweather is laughing all the way to the bank as Haymon and Schaefer position themselves to compromise the World's current two biggest promoters, Golden Boy and Top Rank.
