Flat vs climb. Weight only matters on hills or when accelerating. There are far more factors than just weight which count on a climb.
Wind resistance - faster makes more difference. So gradual climbs, weight is definitely not the only factor. Drafting and position! Ok so drag is a much smaller decelerating factor when a climb is steep - but it does still matter. The steeper the climb, the less it matters.
Downhill, weight can in fact help on a downhill.
The weight of bike and kit as proportion - total system weight makes a big difference. Emma's bike might even sneak under the 6.8kg UCI rule!
